Souls of America

Few things stop us in our tracks, but local San Francisco photographer Daniel Castro has done just that by setting out across America to document that indispensable part of our lives, our shoes.  He beautifully documents that shoes are windows into our habits, our culture, our demographics and our souls.   This project shows the people of America via the soles on their feet and the ground on which they stand- while raising awareness of those who cannot afford to cover their toes. For every “portrait” Daniel takes, a pair of shoes will be donated to someone in need via solesforsouls.org, the largest non-profit shoe donation organization in the US.  It was so hard to choose but her are a few or my favorites. Well done Daniel!
