August is trade show month and I am heading east to Vegas. Shows are one of the many ways we find those oh-so-fresh labels each season. As we put together our eclectic assortment of shoes from the best independent designers, the Platform, Pool and Project trade show circuit fall into the can't be missed category. This is an environment where design, art, and commerce intersect.
Here is a peek into my world today:
Up at 3:45 am to catch a 6:15 am flight from San Francisco to Vegas. This early in the am there are only 2 things on my mind 1) don't leave the house without coffee 2) don't forget your cell phone. I can deal with all other mishaps when departing this early, even missing my flight, but these two are the hardest to recover from.
Arrived in good shape and saw, Jeffrey Campbell, Matt Bernson, Dolce Vita, and 2568 today. These indie favs of mine did not fail to deliver. I can’t even begin to name all the reasons why Jeff Campbell’s street wear inspired collection was in a class of its own. Matt Bernson’s eye for beautiful, naturally tanned leathers put on rustic, down to earth bottoms was spot on. Dolce Vita’s new DV8 line, carried by a just a few retailers (including us!) looked really fresh. 2568 remained true to who they were and amazed me with their handcrafted shoes with Mexican blanket inspired fabrics from Guatemala.
Another fellow trade show attendee. Tell us how you really feel!
My comfortable walking shoes for being on my feet all day :
What a day! One day down, one to go.
